This haunted tour of Edinburgh begins at the Lawnmarket, where the dark legacy of Deacon Brodie lingers. The journey moves past Edinburgh Castle, exploring the legend of the phantom piper who vanished within its tunnels. Nearby, at St. Cuthbert’s Graveyard, the restless spirits of the city’s gruesome past are said to wander among the ancient headstones. The route continues through the shadows of the Grassmarket, a former site of public executions and the hunting ground of the infamous body snatchers Burke and Hare. After passing the loyal spirit of Greyfriars Bobby, the tour reaches Greyfriars Kirk, where the “Mackenzie Poltergeist” is whispered to haunt the Covenanters’ Prison. Finally, the journey visits the Palace of Holyroodhouse, exploring the spectral footprints of Mary, Queen of Scots, before crossing toward the Royal Mile. The tour concludes back at the Old Town, overlooking a city where centuries of witches, plague victims, and murders have left a permanent mark on the historic streets.
